How does Christ appear to those outside Him compared to those in Him?
To those outside Christ, He appears to have no beauty that they should behold Him. To those in Him, He is everything and beautiful, yet only the believer can understand all that He is. The tabernacle illustrates this: outsiders did not see its beauty until priests entered within.
Les explains that this contrast is pictured in the tabernacle. Its fine twined linen was woven with blue, purple, and scarlet, with likenesses of cherubim throughout. From the outside, Christ hath no beauty that we should behold Him, but once a person becomes involved in Christ, He is everything; He is beautiful. Only the believer can understand all that He is. In the same way, people coming to the tent would not see or experience that beauty until the priests came inside.
