Les Feldick Bible Study

What does God see when He looks at someone who is in Christ?

When a person is in Christ, God no longer sees them in the cesspool of sin they were in Adam. Instead, He sees only the righteousness and holiness of Christ, because the believer is in Him. God does not see the believer at all; He sees only Christ.

Les explains that when Christ died on the cross and a person believes what God says about the cross, every believer is taken out of Adam and placed in Christ. Instead of God seeing that person in the cesspool of sin they were in Adam, He now sees only the righteousness and holiness of Christ, because the believer is in Him. In fact, Les says, if you are in Him, God does not see you at all. Les then connects this to Colossians 3:1-2, where Paul writes to believers who have been risen with Christ to seek things above, where Christ sits at the right hand of God, not on a throne experientially, and to set their affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
