What does Israel's history reveal about human nature?

Israel's history exposes a human nature that remains unchanged across time. Despite miraculous deliverance and God's visible presence, the people quickly turned to idolatry when their leader delayed. The same tendency to reject, disbelieve, and crucify Christ persists today, showing no difference between ancient Israel and modern humanity.

Les explains that everything that happened to Israel is an exposure of human nature and that we are of the same nature—there is no difference. He says human nature is no different today than it was then. To illustrate, he asks what the human race would do if Christ came on the scene today as He did then: the same thing—crucify Him, reject Him, and not believe Him. He points to Israel's behavior at Sinai: as soon as Moses delayed coming down from the mount, the people gathered to Aaron and said, 'Up, make us gods, to go before us.' This happened even though God had miraculously brought them out of Egypt, opened the Red Sea, and His cloud and pillar of fire were still over them daily. Les also mentions a television clip of modern New Agers on a mountainside worshiping the sun, noting that people of this enlightened day, so-called intellectuals, still fall for such garbage. Israel's history therefore reveals a universal, unchanging human tendency toward idolatry and rejection of God, proving that modern humanity is no different from ancient Israel.
