What did the civil law include regarding compensation for damages?

The civil law included a system of compensation for damages. For example, if a bull got out and trampled down someone else's grain, there had to be a provision to make compensation. It also addressed wrongs done to others, all as part of Israel's civil law.

Les explains that after the law was given, God gave Israel the whole system of law, which is broken into the moral law (the Ten Commandments) and the civil law. The civil law included practical provisions for compensation: if a bull got out and trampled someone else's grain, there had to be a system to make compensation. It also covered cases where someone did someone wrong. All of this was part of Israel's civil law.
