Are only the Ten Commandments commandments from God?
No. The Ten Commandments are valid as far as they go, but they are not the only commandments from God. Scripture includes many other commandments, such as praying without ceasing and resisting the devil, and these also are commandments God has put into words.
Les teaches that the Ten Commandments are certainly valid as far as they go, but they are not the only commandments from God. He points out that when Paul writes, "resist the devil and he'll flee from you," that is a commandment. Likewise, "pray without ceasing" is a commandment. All through Scripture, the things God has put into words become commandments, not just the Ten. So God's commandments extend beyond the Decalogue to include other instructions He has given.
