What would happen if young people sought each other's highest good while dating?

If young people in dating and courtship kept each other's highest good uppermost, they would not contribute to today's moral shambles. A young man would not try to bring a young woman into an immoral state; such love seeks the other's good and fulfills the law.

Les explains that the love Paul describes is not erotic love or Hollywood's idea of love, but a love that seeks the other person's highest good. That definition involves no mere hugging, kissing, or physical attraction. So if young people in courting and dating kept that uppermost in mind, the moral shambles of today would not exist. A young man dating a young woman would not try to bring her into an immoral state. Les applies the same principle to husband and wife or neighbor and neighbor: doing whatever we do for the other person's highest good fulfills the whole law. Yet this cannot be done merely by commanding, because we never really grow up.
