Les Feldick Bible Study

Who was the law given to according to Romans chapter 3?

According to Romans chapter 3, the law was given specifically to Israel, to those who were under the law. But Paul says in the same breath that all the world might be brought under its guilt, and the law still has control over the whole human race.

Les teaches that Romans chapter 3 shows the law was specifically given to them who were under the law—that is, Israel. Yet Paul says in the very same breath that this was so all the world might be brought under its guilt. Les emphasizes that although the law was given to Israel, it still has control over the whole human race. In the surrounding study in Exodus 20, he notes that God (Elohim) spoke, and the Lord God (Jehovah) was intrinsically involved with the nation of Israel.

Romans 3:19

Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
