What will the Antichrist do to Israel after defiling the temple, and what period does that begin?
After defiling the temple in Jerusalem, the Antichrist will turn on the children of Israel and bring in the awful last three-and-a-half years of the Tribulation. This period begins at the middle of Daniel's seven-year week, the midpoint of the seven years.
Les explains that Daniel says in the middle of the week, in the middle of that seven years, the Antichrist will move down into Jerusalem, likely from Western Europe, enter the temple, and defile it, probably like Antiochus the Syrian did in the Old Testament, perhaps by offering a hog on the altar. According to Daniel, he will then turn on the children of Israel and bring in the awful last three-and-a-half years of the Tribulation. When that happens, Jesus tells those in Judea to flee into the mountains.
And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.
