At what point during the tribulation does the Antichrist defile the temple?
The Antichrist defiles the temple at the midpoint of the tribulation, after Israel has enjoyed temple worship up until that point. Paul depicts this man entering the temple and doing an abominable thing, similar to Antiochus, who in ancient history offered a hog upon the altar in Jerusalem.
Les teaches that Israel will enjoy temple worship up until the midpoint of the tribulation. At that midpoint, the man of sin, the Antichrist, will go into the temple and defile it, doing some abominable thing. Les compares this to Antiochus in ancient history, who offered a hog, a sow, upon the altar there in Jerusalem, and says he is sure the Antichrist will do something just as despicable. Les also notes that Paul wrote about this, and that the tribulation cannot begin until there is the departure.
