Why don't Christians have to keep the Sabbath?

Paul never instructs believers to keep the Sabbath. The resurrection places Christians on resurrection ground, not the legal ground of the Mosaic system. Instead, the first day of the week is observed because Christ rose from the dead, and Acts shows disciples gathering on that day to break bread and hear preaching.

Les explains that Paul received the doctrines of grace in a private, personal seminary experience, and Paul did not stay on Mount Sinai but took the message to the Gentiles. The resurrection separates this dispensation; believers are on resurrection ground, not the legal ground of the Mosaic system. Therefore, although some groups claim America's problems stem from not keeping the Sabbath, Les teaches that Paul never instructs us to keep the Sabbath. Instead, the first day of the week is significant because Christ rose from the dead. In Acts 20:6-7, Paul and his companions sailed from Philippi to Troas, and on the first day of the week the disciples came together to break bread, and Paul preached. Les notes the same connotation appears in 1 Corinthians 16.
