Les Feldick Bible Study

Why should we race to the foot of the cross when trials come?

We should race to the foot of the cross when trials come because the cross is where everything begins and ends for us today and where all has been satisfied. Trying to bypass the cross leaves us hopeless, but the work of the cross makes bitter experiences sweet, as the tree cast into the waters made them sweet.

Les teaches that the cross is where everything begins and ends for us today. If we try to bypass the cross, we are just as hopeless as the Jews were in Egypt. He points to the Exodus picture where Moses cast the tree into the bitter waters, and as soon as the tree was cast, the waters were made sweet. Likewise in our experience, when tribulations, disappointments, and sorrows come, we should race to the foot of the cross, because that is where everything has been satisfied. After that bitter experience was made sweet, Moses led them by the cloud and pillar of fire to an oasis of twelve wells and seventy palm trees, a place of rest, relaxation, and the satisfaction of their thirst.
