Les Feldick Bible Study

What happens to the seed that falls in the fall according to nature's pattern?

The seed must die before it can bring forth new life. Everything that produces the seed in the fall, that seed falls, dies, and when everything is right, it springs up into new life and reproduces again. This natural cycle pictures death, burial, and resurrection.

Les explains that the seed's death is essential. It germinates and dies, and then new life comes. The whole system of nature, especially springtime, pictures death, burial, and resurrection. Everything that produces seed in the fall falls somewhere, dies, and when everything is right, springs up into new life and reproduces again. Les connects this to the Spirit: we have to die. He points to the first law God gave Adam and Eve concerning the tree—the day thou eatest thereof, thou shalt surely die. Ezekiel later says the soul that sinneth shall surely die. The human race has no alternative but to die because we are born in sin, yet there is a loophole: we can die in the person of Christ on the cross by identification, by faith, by trust—when He died, I died; when He died, you died.
