What happens to a seed if you never plant it in the ground?

A seed that is never planted in the ground remains alone and unchanged; nothing happens to it. It simply stays in its container, whether a bag or a sack, and never brings forth fruit or grain. Only when it falls into the ground and dies does it produce much fruit.

Les explains that a seed left unplanted simply stays in its container, whether a bag or a sack, and nothing happens. It abides alone. But when a seed is put into the ground and receives moisture and sunlight, it must first die and become corrupt; out of that death comes a new stem, which for wheat produces hundreds of kernels. Jesus used this analogy of the kernel of wheat to teach that unless it falls into the ground and dies, it abides alone, but if it dies, it brings forth much fruit. Les further notes that this whole concept throughout God's creation constantly screams the fact of resurrection, and every springtime when things shoot out of the ground reminds us of the resurrection, because Jesus Himself used that analogy.
