What happens to a seed after it is planted and dies in the ground?
After a seed is planted and dies in the ground, it no longer abides alone. It becomes corrupt, and out of that death comes a new stem and much fruit or grain; for wheat, hundreds of kernels. This process illustrates resurrection throughout God's creation.
Les explains that Jesus used the analogy of a kernel of wheat. Unless it falls into the ground and dies, it abideth alone; but if it dies, it bringeth forth much fruit or grain. Les points out that gardeners and farmers know nothing is going to happen until the seed is put in the ground; otherwise it stays in its container. Once the seed is in the ground with moisture and sunlight, the first thing it has to do is die. It dies, becomes corrupt, and out of that death comes the new stem, out of which for wheat will come hundreds of kernels. Les tells his classes in Oklahoma that everything seen in nature is constantly screaming the fact of resurrection. Every springtime and every planting in gardens is a reminder of the resurrection, because Jesus Himself used that analogy.
