When did the body of Christ begin?
The body of Christ began after Pentecost, not at Pentecost, when the gospel went out to Jew and Gentile and believers at Antioch were first called Christians. It began when Paul preached Christ's death, burial, and resurrection by faith alone without the law, and the Holy Spirit placed believers into that body.
Les teaches that the body of Christ came on the scene in the New Testament sometime, and he thinks it was after Pentecost, not necessarily at Pentecost, because Pentecost was strictly a Jewish holiday with a Jewish message. He points to when the gospel began to go out to Jew and Gentile, especially at the church at Antioch, where Acts chapter 11 says they were first called Christians. Les concludes the body of Christ began when Paul began to preach Christ's death, burial, and resurrection, by faith and faith alone, without the law; and as men and women believed that, the Holy Spirit baptized or placed them into the body of Christ.
