What does the Red Sea crossing symbolize in the Bible?

The Red Sea crossing symbolizes salvation. The passage through the sea pictures the burial of Christ, and Israel coming out on the other side pictures resurrection. Scripture presents Israel walking on dry land with the waters as a wall, and this event is a picture of our own salvation.

Les explains that the Red Sea crossing was a picture of our own salvation. He says it is indicative of the burial of Christ, and coming out on the other side is resurrection. He also notes the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea, with the waters a wall on their right and on their left. Les discredits the movie The Ten Commandments because you would never run three to seven million people and all their livestock through that narrow channel. He is convinced God moved the whole multitude miraculously faster than a three-mile-an-hour walk and opened the Red Sea an amazing amount of distance. But however He did it, Scripture says so, and it pictures salvation.

Exodus 14:29

But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
