How does God's power work in the believer the way it worked at the Red Sea?
God's power works in the believer through the preaching of the cross, which Scripture calls the power of God to those who are saved. Just as God opened the Red Sea by His power, He exercises that same power in resurrecting Christ and bringing believers out of their deadness in sin and slavery to it.
Les teaches that the cross, which is foolishness to those who reject and ridicule it, becomes the power of God to everyone who is saved and has believed it. He says that just as surely as God opened the Red Sea by His power, God also exercises His power not only in resurrecting Christ from the dead, but in bringing believers out of their deadness in sin and slavery to it. In the same chapter, Christ is called the power of God and the wisdom of God, and therefore believers are to rely upon that power.
