How was Moses proven to be the legitimate leader and deliverer?
Moses was proven to be God's legitimate leader and deliverer through sign miracles. He threw down his rod, and it became a serpent; he put his hand into his bosom, and it became leprous, then was healed when he put it back. These signs confirmed to Israel that Moses was indeed God's man to deliver them.
Les explains that throughout Exodus, redemption requires a person, and that person was Moses. Israel was helpless, slaves with no armed forces, economic clout, or political clout, so God would do the redeeming. Moses had to be proven as the legitimate leader and deliverer by sign miracles. He threw his rod on the ground and it became serpents; he put his hand in his bosom, it became leprous, and when he put it back it was healed. All these were to prove to the Jew that Moses was indeed God's man to deliver them. Les then parallels this to Christ, who in His three years of earthly ministry proved who He really was by His miracles and validated His claim that He was indeed the Redeemer of Israel.
