What is the basic geography of the Red Sea and Sinai Peninsula in the exodus route?

In the exodus route, Goshen lay near the Mediterranean coast, while the Sinai Peninsula sat farther south with the Red Sea extending up on both sides. Israel avoided the short Philistine route, traveled down the Red Sea shore, and reached a deeper part of the sea near Mount Sinai, hemmed in by mountains.

Les teaches that after the Passover, God did not lead Israel by the way of the Philistines, which was the shorter northern route. Instead, they came out of Goshen. In the geography he describes, the Sinai Peninsula lies out in that area, and the Red Sea comes up on both sides of it. The Mediterranean coast is placed in that same general map area, along with Goshen. Israel travels down the shore of the Red Sea to somewhere along the deeper part of that body of water, approximately near Mount Sinai, and there they are locked in with mountains.
