What does the Passover lamb being roasted with fire teach about Jesus and the cross?

The roasting with fire signifies judgment. The Passover lamb could not be eaten raw or boiled but had to be roasted, illustrating that Jesus endured the fires of judgment on the cross to bring about salvation. His death was not a casual event but a judgment-bearing sacrifice.

Les explains that the fire used to roast the Passover lamb was indicative of judgment. Just as the lamb was not to be eaten raw or boiled in water but roasted with fire, so Christ went through the fires of judgment as He hung on the cross to bring about our salvation. Earlier, the lamb was kept for three days and examined for any blemish, just as Christ spent three years under scrutiny and was found without spot, without blemish, and blameless. The roasting with fire therefore pictures the judgment Christ endured on the cross, and it was not to be fixed any other way.
