How long will our body, soul, and spirit be preserved?
According to 1 Thessalonians 5:23, the whole spirit, soul, and body are preserved not merely for seventy years but for eternity. The three-part person is being kept complete for eternal things, and will be a viable entity in eternity once the body is received.
Les teaches that we are not merely soul, but a three-partite person: body, soul, and spirit. He rejects the idea that God is concerned only with the soul and not the physical body. Using 1 Thessalonians 5:23, he points out that the whole spirit, soul, and body are preserved. The context asks whether this preservation is only for seventy years, then answers that it is for eternity. Les emphasizes that these are eternal things, and that the soul and spirit will not be a viable entity in eternity until the body is received. For those living today, we are body, soul, and spirit.
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
