Where was Paul when he was hoping to meet Titus?
Paul was at Troas when he was hoping to meet Titus. He had been under heavy pressure from persecutors in Ephesus, and while at Troas he had no rest in his spirit because he did not find Titus his brother there.
Les explains that Paul had been under such pressure from the persecutors of Ephesus, and now he was up at Troas hoping to meet Titus. In 2 Corinthians 2:13, Paul says he had no rest in his spirit because he did not find Titus his brother. Les points out there was no communication available, so Titus could not tell Paul that he had been delayed. After waiting a few days and ministering to the people at Troas, Paul finally had to go on his way, not knowing what had happened to Titus. From there he went on up to Philippi in northern Greece, where he later became so deathly sick that he despaired of life itself.
I had no rest in my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother: but taking my leave of them, I went from thence into Macedonia.
