Where did Paul's apostleship come from — Jerusalem, Peter and the Twelve, or the ascended Lord?
Paul's apostleship did not originate from Jerusalem, nor was it tied to Peter and the Twelve. It was tied only to the Ascended Lord of Glory. He defended this repeatedly to the Corinthians, as shown in the first six chapters of II Corinthians.
Les teaches that in the first six chapters and ten verses of II Corinthians, Paul constantly defends and reminds the Corinthians that his apostleship was not tied to Jerusalem, not tied to Peter and the Twelve, but tied only to the Ascended Lord of Glory. This defense runs throughout those chapters. Paul also explains his reasoning for not coming personally to Corinth, choosing instead to write a letter. He did not want to come in heaviness or sorrow, and he asks whether making them sorry would bring him gladness, indicating he would not come down too hard.
