Is putting yourself under legalistic law-keeping actually Christianity?

No. Scripture teaches believers to stand fast in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, not to be entangled again with the yoke of bondage. Legalistic law-keeping is not Christianity; true Christianity is liberty in the Gospel of Grace, though liberty is never license.

Les explains that Paul was not the progenitor of a religion or a grand guru who could hold a whip over believers. Christian liberty, Les teaches, is something the average believer today still does not comprehend. Even the Corinthians in their carnality were enjoying Christian liberty, yet many so-called Christians have no concept of liberty in the Gospel of Grace. Paul appealed to the Galatian believers not to let the Judaizers destroy their faith, and in Galatians 5:1 he wrote, "stand fast therefore... in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." Les says that is exactly where most people constantly put themselves—under a legalistic situation where someone just lays down the law. He flatly states, "That's not Christianity." True Christianity is liberty, and liberty is not license.
