How did Paul come to the city of Corinth?

Paul came to Corinth not with flippant statements, silly ideas, gimmickry, or Fifth Avenue advertising. He did not come like a hawker selling cheap wares, but with all the sincerity and desires of his heart to see pagan people leave darkness and enter the glorious gospel light.

Les explains that Paul did not come to Corinth with a bunch of flippant statements, silly ideas, or gimmickry, nor with what today might be called Fifth Avenue advertising. Instead, he came with all the sincerity and desires of his heart, wanting these pagan people to come out of their pagan darkness and step into the light of the glorious gospel. Paul said he did not come like a hawker selling cheap wares, but came with all the sincerity of his heart that they might turn. Les connects this to 1 Thessalonians chapter 1 verse 9, where Paul’s manner of entering in was such that the Thessalonians turned from idols to serve the living God.
