How did Paul actually come and minister when he arrived in Corinth?

Paul came without polished oratory, smooth talk, or a large advance team preparing crusades. He entered Corinth simply, likely beginning in the synagogue and then the busy marketplace, approaching people directly and preaching the cross, not the wisdom of this world.

Les explains that Paul did not arrive with oratory, smooth talk, or a big advanced team preparing him for large crusades. He simply came in, first to the synagogue, and from there probably out into the busy marketplace, where he began approaching people with the preaching of the cross. Les applies this by saying pastors should forget gimmicks and programs and simply preach the Word, because that is the way God ordained it; then churches would find new life and grow. In 1 Corinthians 2, Paul says he did not come with the wisdom of this world, nor with the princes of this world that come to nothing. The word “perfect” in the King James means mature, and the Corinthian believers, though carnal, had enough of the basic fundamentals of Paul’s gospel to be referred to as mature.
