Does prayer change things according to the Bible?
Scripture indicates that prayer does change things. Paul was sustained in his ministry by the prayers of the saints, and believers are encouraged to pray for one another and for those in ministry, helping together by prayer so that thanks may be given by many.
Les explains that after Christ's resurrection the eleven men understood nothing could touch their eternal part, and Paul had that same mindset: even if his physical life was taken, his spirit life could not be ended. In verse 11, Paul asks the Corinthians to help together by prayer for him, so that thanks may be given by many on his behalf. Les says what really sustained Paul in his ministry were the prayers of the saints, and he urges believers never to fail to pray for one another, to pray for us and for others in ministry that God is using to reach hearts, saying it is Scripture that prayer does change things.
Ye also helping together by prayer for us, that for the gift bestowed upon us by the means of many persons thanks may be given by many on our behalf.
