What day did Paul say the collection should be taken up on?

Paul instructed the collection for the poor saints in Jerusalem to be taken up on the first day of the week, not on the seventh-day Sabbath. This day is Resurrection Day, when believers come together. The same order was given to the churches of Galatia and likewise to Corinth.

Les explains that Paul does not use the word tithe, because that belonged to the Law, but that does not mean God does not expect giving. Concerning the collection for the saints, Paul was always instructed to remember the poor saints in Jerusalem. They had given everything they had in Acts chapter 2 and 3 in light of the Kingdom, but the Kingdom did not come because it was rejected. Many had come for Passover or Pentecost from places like Babylon and Rome, gave what they had, and lacked even ship fare home. God in His providence took care of them through the offerings of Paul's converts from Gentiledom brought back to Jerusalem. Paul gave order to the churches of Galatia and even so for Corinth that the collection be upon the first day of the week, not on the seventh day Sabbath, but on the first day of the week. Why? Resurrection Day. Les suggests that is why it is in this chapter: on Resurrection Day you come together.

1 Corinthians 16:1

Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye.
