What has to happen to a seed before it can sprout new life?
Before a seed can sprout new life, it must be taken out of its container and placed into the ground to receive moisture and sunlight. Then it must die. For all practical purposes, the seed dies, and if it dies, it brings forth much fruit.
Les teaches from Jesus' words about the kernel of wheat. Jesus said, “Except a kernel of wheat fall into the ground, and die, it abideth alone. But if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.” Les explains that before a seed can germinate, it has to be taken out of its container and placed into the ground where it can receive moisture and sunlight. Then, before that seed can sprout new life, it dies. For all practical purposes, that seed dies. This was spoken just before the crucifixion, as the hour had come for the Son of Man to be glorified through His death, burial, and resurrection.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
