What does it mean to be raised from a dead spiritual existence?

Ephesians 2:1 teaches that God makes a person who was dead in trespasses and sins alive spiritually in this life. This resurrection power raises one from a dead spiritual existence into an existence filled with the Spirit of God, bringing a new divine nature and all salvation provides.

Les explains that at the very core of the whole Christian belief is the power of resurrection, first in our salvation. Ephesians 2:1 says that we were dead in trespasses and sins, but God has made us alive spiritually in this life. In other words, we were raised from a dead spiritual existence to an existence filled with the Spirit of God. We now have the new divine nature and all these things that salvation brings working on our behalf. Les notes that all of this was unknown until the writings of the Apostle Paul, and he ties it to our eternal state, reminding us that the heart of it all is the resurrection.
