What makes a human being a complete entity?

A human being is a complete entity only when he or she possesses body, soul, and spirit together. All three must be brought back together for a person to function fully and spend eternity in the presence of Christ. The soul and spirit are redeemed in believers, but the body awaits redemption.

Les teaches that God is not concerned only with the soul and spirit. Even for eternity, a person must be a complete entity. He explains that no human being has any function as a complete entity unless he is body, soul, and spirit, and all three must be brought back together before we can spend eternity in the presence of Christ. For the believer, the soul and spirit have already been redeemed, but the body is still unredeemed, still in the flesh, and still under the curse. The very presence of the Holy Spirit in the believer's life is God's down payment that He will complete the whole transaction, redeeming body, soul, and spirit together. Les connects this to Romans chapter 8, beginning at verse 18, where creation waits for the manifestation of the children of God.
