Can a human being function as a complete entity without a body?
No. A human being cannot function as a complete entity without a body. Body, soul, and spirit must be together. Even for eternity, all three must be brought back together to spend eternity in Christ’s presence. The body remains unredeemed until God completes the whole transaction.
Les teaches that no human being has any function as a complete entity unless he is body, soul, and spirit. All three are going to have to be brought back together before we can spend eternity in the presence of Christ. For believers, the soul and spirit have already been redeemed, but the body is still unredeemed, still in the flesh, and still under the curse. The presence of the Holy Spirit in a believer’s life is God’s down payment that He will complete the whole transaction and redeem body, soul, and spirit together. Les then returns to Romans 8, where creation waits for the manifestation of the children of God.
