How do you stop giving in to the old Adam nature?
Believers stop yielding to the old Adam by keeping him in subjection, feeding the new divine nature, and turning from his instincts to put him down. They must keep old Adam under control so they do not sin, remembering grace is not a license to sin. This is the scriptural instruction Paul addresses.
Les teaches that sinless living is not possible because the old Adam nature constantly works to cause sin and succeeds too often. However, the believer’s new nature is divine and cannot sin. To stop giving in, the believer must keep old Adam in subjection and feed the new, divine nature. Les says to turn from the instincts of old Adam, put him down, and keep him under control so that we sin not. Grace is not licensed; where sin aboundeth, grace is greater, but for the believer grace is not a license. Paul is addressing the Corinthian church, where some lacked the knowledge of God and were carnal believers.
