What happens to professing Christians who abandon fellowship and run with the world?

Professing Christians who abandon fellowship with like-minded believers and run with the world will become like their companions. Evil associations rub off and corrupt them. Their end is predictable, so Scripture says to awake to righteousness and sin not, rather than neglecting the assembling of yourselves together.

Les explains that believers need fellowship with like-minded believers, because we all need that encouragement and mutual prayer. When professing Christians turn their back on that fellowship and start running with the world, he says he can just about tell what their end will be. He compares it to children, who become like the friends they run with. He encouraged his own kids to seek out friends with their own principles and values, because such friends are out there and not alone. The same is true for believers; they should not think they are the only ones left, as Elijah did. Therefore, neglect not the assembling of yourselves together. Returning to 1 Corinthians 15:33, evil communications does not mean only words but our concourse with people; if it is with evil people, it will rub off. Verse 34 adds, awake to righteousness and sin not.
