What does it mean to die daily?
Dying daily means the believer continually reckons the old Adam, the sin nature, as crucified with Christ and keeps it in subjection, putting it to death. Though God counts it dead at salvation, in experience it remains and wages war against the new nature until physical death.
Les teaches that dying daily involves the believer's two natures: the old Adam, which constantly pursues, and the new divine nature from salvation and union with Christ. This Pauline doctrine means constant warfare between the old sin nature and the new divine nature. In Romans 6:13 and throughout Romans 6, Paul says to reckon the old Adam as our mortal enemy and put him constantly to death. God in His omnipotence and sovereignty reckoned our old Adam as crucified with Christ, so he is dead, but in experience he is still with us, plaguing us until we leave this body of mortality. Dying daily is keeping old Adam in subjection.
