What does it mean that Christ is our inheritance and we are His inheritance?
It means that because believers are placed in Christ, they share an even standing with Him: He is their inheritance, and they are His inheritance. This mutual relationship makes the Body of Christ His complement and fullness, a glorious position received by faith and beyond human understanding.
Les explains that God, because of our position in Christ, puts us on an even keel with Christ, so that as He is our inheritance, we are His inheritance. He connects this to the Body of Christ being the complement, the fullness, of Christ—the same word used concerning Eve when God presented her to Adam as his complement and helpmeet. Les says this is beyond human understanding, but we take it by faith as our glorious position as members of the Body of Christ. He emphasizes that we are not saved merely to escape hellfire, but to come into a tremendous relationship with Christ Himself. This greatness of His power is toward us who believe, not toward those who rely on repenting, baptism, church membership, or walking an aisle.
