Les teaches that verse 16 declares that by God the Son all things were created, and most people won't give Christ that credit, but He is the Creator and the sustainer of the universe. Les lists the scope: everything in heaven, everything in earth, visible and invisible, thrones, dominions, principalities, and so forth—all things were created by Him and for Him. Les then connects this to Hebrews chapter 1, verse 3, where God the Son is the brightness of the glory of the Godhead, the express visible and tangible image of His person, upholding all things by the word of His power. To illustrate, Les points to the vast universe with billions of celestial bodies and asks why they do not crash into one another or drop out of orbit. His answer: because Christ has them all under control. Les applies this by saying that we know God is aware of every individual because He knows every single celestial body.
