What kind of Bible should I buy to study the Scriptures properly?
Buy a good cross-reference Bible. The choice of which one is not critical, but get a good study Bible with cross-references and helpful footnotes. The important thing is to learn how to study it, not merely read it, so you can show yourself approved unto God.
Les explains that Scripture says, "study to show thyself approved unto God." It does not say read your Bible; it says study it. He urges people to get into the book and not just read it but study it. He advises buying a good cross-reference Bible. He does not particularly care which one you use, but says to get a good study Bible with cross-references, and footnotes always help, and learn how to study. He adds that this is much better time well spent than watching television.
