Why should this generation have to suffer so horribly after 6,000 years of human history?

This generation suffers so horribly because more people are living now than have lived since the beginning. By virtue of those vast numbers, the majority of the human race comes under God's wrath and judgment. The great Tribulation is also the time of Jacob's trouble, centered on Israel.

Les explains that he raised this very question to his class: why should this generation have to suffer so horribly after 6,000 years of human history? His answer is that there are more people living on the world right now than have lived all the way back to the beginning. Therefore, the vast majority of the human race will still come under the wrath and judgment of God by virtue of our numbers. He ties this to the Tribulation, a day of trouble so great that none is like it, nor will there ever be a future time of trouble like that final seven years. He identifies it as the time of Jacob's trouble, because in all of God's dealing with the human race, the nation of Israel is at the center.
