What are believers waiting for before being in union with Christ?

Believers are already seated in the heavenlies through their position in Christ, yet they await the day when they will be taken up into the heavenlies. On that day they will enter full union with Christ Himself, members in particular of His Body, known individually by name.

Les explains that believers already have a position in Christ, being seated in the heavenlies, but they are still waiting for the day when they will be taken up into the heavenlies to be in union with Christ Himself. This is something Peter never fully understood, and most people do not comprehend the position believers of the Gospel have in Christ. Even while waiting, believers do not lose their identity. Paul writes that they are the Body of Christ in total, yet members in particular. God knows each one by name, not by a number or a group. In Ephesians 1, Paul presents Christ as the Head of the Body, raised from the dead and set at God's own right hand in the heavenlies. That is the believer's position: when He is in heaven, they are in heaven, far above all principality, power, might, dominion, and every name that is named.
