What was the good news of the Gospel of the Kingdom that Israel was offered?
The good news was that Christ, the Messiah and King, was in Israel’s midst and was ready to fulfill all the Old Testament promises concerning Israel and His Messiahship. This Gospel of the Kingdom was offered to Israel alone, with nothing in it for the Gentile, until Israel rejected the King and God turned to the Gospel of Grace.
Les explains that the good news of the Gospel of the Kingdom was that Christ was the King in their midst, ready to fulfill all the Old Testament promises concerning Israel and His Messiahship. This message was for Jew only; there was nothing in it for the Gentile. When Israel rejected the Gospel of the Kingdom and the King and crucified Him, God turned to Saul of Tarsus, the Apostle Paul, who began to proclaim the Gospel of Grace. That Gospel of Grace has nothing of law or legalism associated with it and is primarily, not exclusively, to the Gentiles, calling out the Body of Christ rather than a covenant people like Israel.
