Why did God bring Paul on the scene?

God brought Paul onto the scene for the distinct purpose of taking the Gospel of Grace to the Gentiles. Paul was separated from his mother’s womb and called by God’s grace, not because he deserved it, so that he might preach Christ among the heathen, with only some spillover to Jews.

Les explains that Saul of Tarsus had profited in the Jews’ religion, being exceedingly zealous of the traditions of his fathers, but God had something else for the man. When it pleased God, who separated him from his mother’s womb and called him by His grace, the purpose was to reveal His Son in him and to preach Him among the heathen—that is, the Gentiles. Les says this was Paul’s whole purpose: God brought him on the scene to take the Gospel of Grace to the Gentiles. It would spill over to some Jews, but not many, almost a total reverse of the Old Testament.

Galatians 1:16
