Where did the Gentiles come from according to Genesis?
According to Genesis, the Gentiles descend from Adam as the mainstream of humanity. They came through the three sons of Noah, then through the nations scattered at the tower of Babel. This Gentile stream continued on, and out of it God separated Abraham to begin the nation of Israel.
Les explains that this answers the common question of where the Gentiles began. The Gentile line, as we understand Gentiles, is the mainstream of humanity coming from Adam, then from the three sons of Noah, and then through the nations scattered at the tower of Babel, and they just keep on going. This is the Gentile stream of humanity. Out of that stream of humanity God pulled the little nation of Israel by separating the man Abraham. Abraham was not a Jew; he was born of Syrian parents. Isaac went to Haran and got Rebekah, a Syrian, and Jacob later got his wife from Laban, who was still a Syrian. But by God's decree and sovereignty, He declares Abram the father of the Jewish race. Les says if you want to be technical, the first real Jew would be Isaac, though God refers to Abraham as the father of the Jewish people.
