How is the sovereign Creator also the Savior who died and rose for us?
Jesus Christ, the Creator of Genesis 1:1, is the same sovereign God who was crucified by created beings, died the death we deserved, and rose from the dead to extend eternal life. Scripture presents the Creator and Savior as inseparable, so the One who made all things is the One who redeemed us.
Les teaches that Ephesians 3:9 identifies the God of Genesis 1:1 as the Creator, and that Creator is Jesus Christ. He illustrates that the created beings nailed Christ to the cross, crucifying their Creator. When considering salvation, Les says he thanks God that the sovereign, total God of the universe is the same God who died the death he should have died, rose from the dead, and extended eternal life. You cannot separate that from Him; He is and was the Creator. Hebrews 1 reinforces that this same triune God has spoken by His Son.
