How many miraculous signs are recorded in the book of John and who were they for?

The book of John records seven miraculous signs. They were given for the nation of Israel, to prove to the Jewish people that Jesus was who He claimed to be, because the Jews required signs, as I Corinthians 1:22 indicates.

Les explains that Israel has a long history of demanding signs, going all the way back to Moses, where God gave signs to prove to Moses and Aaron that He would deliver Israel from Egypt. Those signs were not so much for Pharaoh's benefit but for Moses and Aaron. In Christ's earthly ministry, Jesus performed miracle after miracle as signs to prove to the Jew that He was who He said He was. When teaching the book of John, Les notes there were seven miraculous signs recorded, and every one of them had a whole trainload of truth for the nation of Israel.
