Is the Word of God simple or complicated?
The Word of God is simple, not complicated. It can be presented in such plain language that a six-year-old understands it, and hearers can know what is required to gain heaven. High-sounding, intellectual statements are of no value if people do not understand them.
Les teaches that the Word of God is simple. He prays that every time he teaches, he can take these same truths and keep them so simple that a six-year-old can understand them. He asks what good it does to come with high-sounding, intellectual, perfectly formed statements if people don't know what you're talking about. He illustrates this by explaining the gospel to a man in such simple language that the man had no doubt about what it would take to gain heaven. The man said he had never heard that before, which Les notes is true of most people.
