Why did God intend the Gospel to be so simple?
God intended the Gospel to be simple so that no one, Jew or Gentile, could ever claim they could not measure up, reach it, or attain it. It is freely available to everyone because Israel fell, and it requires only belief, not works, religion, ritual, or priesthood.
Les explains that the Gospel is beyond human comprehension: the Holy, Righteous God of Glory used something as graphic and awful as the Roman cross to bring about a Gospel He could send to the Gentiles free for nothing. It was without work, without religion, without ritual, without a priesthood; it merely had to be believed. That is what most people can't comprehend—it's too simple. But this is the way God intended it, so that no one, Jew or Gentile, can ever say, "I just couldn't measure up, I couldn't reach that, I couldn't attain it." No one can say that. It's out there for everyone and anyone, because Israel fell.
I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.
