Les Feldick Bible Study

How should you respond to someone who claims to be the only one who has received the revelation of the true Word of God?

You should reject the claim and end the conversation. Once the New Testament Scriptures were completed, there was no longer any need for gifted men to receive new revelation. Anyone claiming to be the only one who has received the true Word of God is way out in left field, because the printed Word is sufficient and final.

Les explains that once the printed Scriptures came into being—Paul’s letters, the four gospels, Acts, and the completed New Testament—there is no longer a need for men specially gifted to receive revelation. He recounts a phone call from a kind, benevolent, and sincere man who insisted Les was teaching men’s words and claimed he alone could teach what God had said. Les recognized the red flags and asked whether the man was claiming to be the only one who had received the revelation of the true Word of God. When the man said yes, Les replied, "I’m sorry, but conversation has ended," and hung up. He later said he did not fly off the handle; he simply told the man he was way out in left field.
