Which child do parents of a Down Syndrome child often pour their love to?

Parents of a Down Syndrome child often pour their love to that child, the one considered less honorable or lacking. Even when they have several other children, that child is often the most responsive, and parents bestow more abundant honor and affection upon them, reflecting how God works.

Les explains this while discussing 1 Corinthians 12, where members we think to be less honorable receive more abundant honor. He says he couldn't help but think of parents who have had a retarded child, and specifically those with a Down Syndrome child. Even though they had several other children, he asks which one was the most responsive and which one did they pour their love to. The implication is that the Down Syndrome child, the one lacking and less honorable, receives that special outpouring of love and honor, just as God takes the foolish things to confound the wise and gives more abundant honor to that which lacked.

1 Corinthians 12:23

And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.

1 Corinthians 12:24

For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:
