What do children of wealthy parents wait for?

Children await their inheritance when their parents have wealth; that is a normal relationship. This is the ordinary expectation when parents possess wealth. Spiritually, if someone is a child of God, then they are an heir, an heir of God and a joint heir with Christ.

Les explains that most children with a wealthy set of parents wait for their inheritance. That is normal, and there is nothing wrong with it. He gives the illustration of people who go south every winter and say, “We’re spending our kids’ inheritance,” but the basic relationship remains that when parents have wealth, the kids have an inheritance. Applying this spiritually, if we are children—as the verse ahead says—then it follows that we are heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ. Les says everyone knows what a joint heir is: everything is equal. You are not just going to get a little handout; everything that is Christ’s is ours. He calls this mind-boggling, but it is the promises, taken by faith. Les also notes there is a price: if we suffer with Him, we may also be glorified together with Him. He observes that America does not really know what it is to suffer for faith, though opposition may be growing. Many areas of the world are under intense persecution, and thousands of believers are losing their life every day for their faith.
